Career Summary
Robert Walder is currently a Scientist at Standard Biotools. Dr. Walder is working on the assay development team working next generation proteomics technologies based on the SomaScan assay, which is a high-plex proteomics assay that uses SOMAmers (aptamers with chemical modifications) are affinity reagents.
Robert Walder was the Director of Research and Development at OpitEnz Sensors LLC. As R&D director, Dr. Walder was the principal investigator for all research and development at OptiEnz Sensors. Dr. Walder’s research team focused on the development of sensors for applications in the biopharma, biotech and the beverage industry. Dr. Walder was also a technical consultant for Edoceo Devices. Dr. Walder was providing technical consulting for the development of their bacterial detection and viral detection platforms, including a SARS-COV-2 rapid detection platform.
Robert Walder attained his bachelor of science in physics at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Robert then went to grad school and did research in Michael Dennin's lab in the physics department at the University of California, Irvine. Robert got his Ph.D. in physics in the CHaMP (chemical and materials physics) program at the University of California, Irvine in 2008.
Dr. Walder was then a postdoctoral researcher in Daniel Schwartz's research group in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder. During his time in the Schwartz lab, he pursued applications of single molecule tracking techniques into surface and interfacial science.
Robert Walder was then a postdoctoral research associate in Thomas Perkin's lab at JILA, a joint institute with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Colorado at Boulder. His research included developing advanced technologies for single molecule biophysics, biological force standards for single molecule measurements and studying protein/RNA folding.
